With the holiday soiree invitations starting to trickle in, I have cocktail dresses on the mind. And, specifically, this Tibi silk mini, which, with its slouchy fit and beaded trim, is the perfect intersection of purple and party. (What, you didn’t think I abandoned my love of purple dresses, did you?) (Bloomingdales; $378)
While I’ve ruled out wrap dresses (along with horizontal stripes - they’re great in theory, but just they don’t work for me) if I hadn’t, I’d be wrapping myself up in this colorblock habotai dress by Marc by Marc Jacobs. Tomato red tinged with purple? Perfection. (Bergdorf Goodman; $358)
It’s 56 degrees, and spring is right around the corner. Which can only mean, first pedicure of the season ahead! And once my toes are all painted, post-pedi these fun fringey purple sandals are the ones I’d want to slide right into. (Piperlime; $95)
Did everyone just find flutter sleeves? Since posting about this vintage find on ebay, it’s been flutter everywhere I go, including this plum Abaete dress and a crimson number by Sunner. I guess to make it through winter, it couldn’t hurt to have wings…
Yes, it’s purple, and I do j’adore my purple. But even I think the puffed sleeves are a bit much. So it’s possible it’s as much the look in this model’s eyes - like, I will eat you for afternoon tea and still have room for a scone - that I love here. Oh, and the flash of red suede shoe. Genius. (Diane von Furstenberg; $325)
